Training and education for Pap test providers

In collaboration with the NSW Cervical Screening Program, Family Planning NSW offers training courses and workshops for General Practitioners (GP) and Practice Nurses to assist with increasing their skills and confidence in performing Pap tests and other women’s health screening checks.

Cervical Screening Upskilling for GPs

This is a 3 hour workshop that combines a lecture / discussion of new Pap test technologies, current National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines and HPV vaccination, practice on pelvic models and individual sessions with a practice patient to help GP's refresh and improve their skills.

Accredited for 6 Category 2 RACGP QA and CPD points

Well Women's Screening Course (Nursing)

This course provides the theory and clinical components to help registered nurses and midwives develop the confidence and competence to provide cervical screening.

Cervical Cancer Hypothetical Case Studies

A video series was developed from the Cancer Institute NSW's Gynaecological Cancer Professional Education Forum 2011, and features discussion by a multidisciplinary panel of experts, facilitated by Dr Norman Swan.

This video series follows the hypothetical cervical cancer journeys of Anna, Jane and Arabella, from screening and diagnosis through all aspects of their multidisciplinary cancer care.
